Warning
Important: Your domain must not have an operating system lower than forest and domain functionality level. If you set the functionality level to Windows 2016, all domain controllers must be running Windows Server 2016 or higher. Do not change these levels without making these checks, as it may cause your domain controllers to be dropped from the domain.
Compatibility Notes
Ensure all domain controllers meet the minimum OS requirements for the selected functionality level
Test the functionality level change in a non-production environment first
Back up your Active Directory before making any changes
Functionality level changes are irreversible without restoring from backup
